1.What
are negative ions?
There are positive and negative charges in the air. Integration of positive
charge and ion form positive ions and that of negative charge and ions form
negative ions. Too many positive ions will leave you feeling depressed,
lethargic, headache and more. Discharge of a high-voltage-exerted pin
electrode is able to produce voluminous negative ions. And these negative
ions are able to attach themselves to airborne toxins and remove the
pollutant from the air. |
|
|
 |
2.What are the benefits of negative ions?
Remove bacteria, vitalize our cells, increase the oxygen holding capacity of
blood, improve metabolism, improve alertnerss, remove fatigue, boost
resistance to disease, have a substantial healing effect on headache,
insomnia, constipation, allergy, asthma and more. |
|
|
3. Negative Ion Facts |
-
Approved by the U.S. FDA
(Food & Drug Admin.) as an approved allergy treatment.
- Ionization is mandatory in many European and Russian Hospitals.
- In March of 1999, Good Housekeeping Magazine had its
engineers test an ionizer by using a smoke test, and found that it
cleared out the smoke in a tank.
- A recent study by the U.S. Dept.
of Agriculture found that ionizing a room led to 52% less dust
in the air, and 95% less bacteria in the air (since many of the
pollutants found in the air reside on floating dust
particles).
|
|
|
4.
How do negative ions remove
pollutants from the air? |
|
 |
  |
|
 |
|
Negatively-charged negative ions attach
themselves to contaminates and allergens, which are positively-charged.
The newly-formed larger particles are then able to fall to the ground, and out
of the air we breathe. |
|
Most floating contaminates
and allergens are positively charged, and of course, negative ions
are negatively charged. In environments where high densities of
negative ions exist, they are able to reverse the charge of
floating contaminates to a negative charge.
This results in a
magnetic attraction among the floating pollutants in the
air, causing them to aggregate, or clump together.
As a result, they become too
heavy to remain floating in the air, and fall harmlessly to
the ground, where they cannot find their way into your respiratory
tract.
At this point, even if they are
inhaled before falling out of the air, these now larger particles
are able to be intercepted by the "filters" of the
upper respiratory tract, due to their increased size.
Of course, without a continual
generation of negative ions, some of these enlargened pollutants can
find their way back into the air. Heaven Fresh air purification
systems are designed for continual use,
ensuring pollutants stay out of the air you breathe.
Some studies suggest that negative
ions also have a biological effect on bacteria and viruses,
killing them on contact in many cases. |
|
|
 |
|
5. Why negative ions and low-level ozone? |
|
Negative ions and ozone are natures most powerful air-cleansing agents.
There is nothing in the world more effective in taking allergens and
contaminates out of the air we breathe. Unfortunately, due to the tight
construction of todays homes and buildings, they are unable to take effect
within indoor environments. |
   |
|
Negative ions and ozone are created by nature, and found at their
most optimal levels where the air is most pure and healthy. These
places typically include up in the mountains, near waterfalls, where
lightning has just occurred, in open meadows away from "the city", and the
ocean shore by the crashing waves. |
|
6. What is
Ozone?
An ozone is formulated by combination of an oxygen molecule (O2) with an
oxygen atom (O), which is freed by ultraviolet radiation in sunshine or
produced by high voltage of lighting. Most ozone exists in the woods and on
seashore. Ozone is an inflammable and easily water-soluble gas, with no
color and no poison. In thin concentration, it has a specific grassy smell
of the refreshing air near a forestry or beach. In high concentration, it
has an irritating pungent odor. When Ozone (O3) reduces into Oxygen (O2), an
oxygen atom (O) becomes free. And this oxygen atom (O) is chemically active
and have very strong oxidizing, disintegrating and neutralizing ability,
three thousand times more powerful in killing bacteria than chlorine.
|
|
|
 |
|
7. Is Ozone
Safe? |
|
Although some groups claim that ozone is harmful, proof of its
safetiness and usefulness at moderate concentrations have prevailed in
hearings before the FTC. Plus, millions of ozone air purifiers have been
sold in the United States over the years, but there are no specific cases
where an ozone air cleaner has been linked to any kind of harm or injury. |
|
Why ozone is mistakenly given a bad name.
|
|
Ozone can only be harmful only when
occurring at extremely high concentration. However, at lower levels it serves as a powerful
purification element without harmful side effect. It is also a
powerful purification agent in large doses, but can also act as a
lung irritant in higher concentrations.
One example of this is an ozone alert,
which is a warning to the public when outdoor levels of ozone reach
a high level. Ozone alerts usually occur in already polluted areas
where there is a high conctration of hydrocarbons in the air
(pollutants that result from smokestack and vehicle exhaust
pollution).
|
|
 |
|
Why ozone is associated with smog. |
|
In these cases though, the reason ozone
concentration hits high levels in polluted areas is due to the fact
that they are a byproduct of the sun rays coming in contact with
hydrocarbons. This is the
suns way of trying to
neutralize the pollutants.
In which case, where the hydrocarbon level is very high, the ozone
concentration also becomes higher.
However, it is much easier to
measure ozone
concentrations than it is hydrocarbon
concentrations, so ozone gets the bad name, even though it
is the hydrocarbons that are the real problem. Most ozone air purification systems (including
the Surround Air, Spring Air, and Biozone models) are designed to
produce ozone in levels of less than 0.04 parts per million (OSHA
recommends less than 0.1 ppm, while the FDA recommends .05 ppm, see
chart below).
But as is the case with just about every
other chemical element, ozone has its range of
effects, from no effect, to useful effect, to hazardous
effects.
Another good example of this is table salt,
which provides essential fortification for nerve cells and the
kidneys, and prevents heat stress disorders at lower concentrations.
At higher levels though, salt can result in hypertension and cardiac
failure.
|
|
|
 |
8. What
are the benefits of Ozone?
- Oxidize, disintegrate and neutralize assorted innocuous gases and
substances such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, methane and benzene etc.
- Has a strong ability to remove smoke and toxin, prolong the span of foods
freshness.
- Kill bacteria and viruses such as mould, cold virus and tubercle bacillus.
Ozone is widely used in medical field, especially in treatment of allergy,
asthma, etc. |
|
|
9. How does ozone work? |
|
Ozone oxidizes airborne pollutants, then reverts to
oxygen, leaving behind cleansed and refreshened air.
Here is how this process works: |
 |
Oxygen Molecules |
 |
Ozone Molecules converted from oxygen (right)
as a result of an electrical charge, such as that provided by lightning, or
an Heaven Fresh air purifier. |
 |
One oxygen atom splits off to oxidize pollutant,
leaving behind breathable oxygen and purified air. |
|
Ozone is highly reactive, so it interacts with
most contaminates and allergens it encounters. As the element with the
second highest oxidation potential (next to flourine), ozone
proceeds to destroy the pollutant through oxidation. |

12. Is excessive Ozone harmful to your health?
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released new Ozone standards. They
established an 8-hour standard of 0.08 parts per million (ppm) and defines
the new standard as a concentration-based form, specifically the 3-year
average of the annual 4th-highest daily maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations.
The EPA also stated, In setting the 8-hour standard at 0.08 ppm, the EPA
recognizes that since there is no discernible threshold below which no
adverse health effects occur, no level would eliminate all risk. Thus, a
zero-risk standard is not possible, nor is it required by the Clean Air Act.
The selected 0.08 ppm level is based on the judgment that at this level
public health will be protected with an adequate margin of safety. Current
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and NIOSH (U.S.
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) workplace limits for
ozone exposure are 0.1 ppm for an 8 hour day/6 days a week. At this
concentration healthy individuals will display symptoms of irritated eyes,
dry throat, and stressed lungs. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
set a limit of 0.05 ppm for ozone emitted from electronic air cleaners.
California issues a Health Advisory when Ozone reaches 0.15 ppm. The State
of California says during a health advisory, everyone is advised to avoid
prolonged, vigorous outdoor exercise. People with respiratory related
problems are advised to avoid any outdoor activities until the advisory is
canceled. |
|
13. Does
Heaven Fresh air purifier generates excessive Ozone?
All Heaven Fresh air purifiers are not OZONE generator. They are negative
ions purifiers that produce very minimum amount of Ozone (much below EPA and
OSHA standart). It only produces Ozone level of at most 0.02 to .015 ppm in
rooms 100-500 square feet based on High setting. If you set our air purifier
to Low setting, it will generate even lower ozone level. So our air
purifiers are free from Ozone effects. However, we recommend that
individuals with a history of respiratory disease consult with their doctor
about possible sensitivity to very low ozone. |

14. What is HEPA filter?
HEPA filter also known as High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter usually
employs a fan drawing air through a filter. Since it uses fans to filter the
air, HEPA filter is usually very noisy and the cost to replace the filter is
quite expensive. HEPA air filters can only effectively remove particles of
larger than 0.3 microns from our air. And most of the airborne pollutants
and irritants are smaller than 0.3. Also, with HEPA filter substantial
portion of the airborne particles flowing through our rooms remain
unfiltered. Only the air that passes through a HEPA filtering unit is
cleaned. |
|
|
|
15. How can Heaven Fresh air purifier purify the room without a filter?
We use high amount of negative ions and very minimum amount of Ozone to purify
and sanitize the air. We use 16 stainless steel needle point to produce high
negative ions and static dust collection plate to clean poisonous gases. Indoor
airs usually contain high number of positive ions. And excessive positive ions
can cause nausea, bad mood and dizziness. Our air purifier generates high
concentration of negative ions to wipe out the excessive & harmful positive ions
resulting in a fresh, clean and healthy air. |
|
|
 |
16. How much is the maintenance cost for Heaven Fresh air purifier?
All our air purifiers only consume 3W to 6W of electricity or equal to 2.5USD to
5USD of electricity per year. |
| |
17. Are there any negative effects using Heaven Fresh air purifier?
Since Heaven Fresh purifier is negative ion air purifier, it does not present
any negative side effect. You will only live more healthy with our air
purifiers. |
|
|
|
18. How does Heaven Fresh air purifier compare in cost to the other air purifier?
Heaven Fresh air purifiers are much more economical yet more effective compare
to other air purifiers. Heaven Fresh air purifiers can clean the air thoroughly with
much cheaper price. |
|
|
|
19. What is Black Wall or Gray Wall Effect?
Gray wall or Black wall effect is a situation where the dirt particles and black
residue near the needle are electro-plated or built up to the wall. As a result,
it will be hard to clean the air purifier. |
|
|
|
20.Does Heaven Fresh air purifier have Black Wall effect?
Heaven Fresh air purifiers use the stainless steel needle point that is
corrosion free. And the collector plate is made of highly conducive materials
that will attract ionized particle. The ionized particle will only attach to the
metal collection surface not the low conducive materials around the machine,
cover or on the wall. So The Black Wall or Gray Wall effect will not occur on
our air purifiers. |
|
|
 |
21. Does Heaven Fresh air purifier produce noise?
Our air purifiers feature virtually silent operation and noiseless design.
Heaven Fresh air purifiers do not utilize fans that can cause serious noise
pollution like the HEPA filter. |
|
|
|
22. How much is the maintenance cost for Heaven Fresh air purifier?
No maintenance cost is necessary. The only maintenance needed is unit cleaning.
Simply open the units, wipe off the dust on collector plate and the needlepoints
every one or two months. And then clean the circuit inside the unit every six
months. |
| |
| |
|
|
 |
23. How do
I choose the right air purifier for my room?
Choose the best air-purifier according to your square footage, level of air
contamination, odor levels and air circulation to get the maximum
effectiveness and to be safe/healthy. |
